Birders,

I am not sure as to how to go about this but would like to do some birding in Cheorwon.  Focus would be on any raptors and cranes (esp. red crowned).  I am shooting for approx dates between Dec. 20-31.  Maybe we could get a small group going?  Let's dialogue.

Hi Joseph
Cheorweon is difficult but not impossible without a car. Do you have one day or is an overnight possible? I'm not sure about my schedule then but will keep in touch--hope you do the same.

I will be going at about that time - probably Han/Imjin, Munsan, Cheorwon - leave early and same day return (Saturday is best)
I can take 3 in comfort/4 with not too much trouble. The only problem is that it's best not to name the day, because of the weather.
So, I suggest that we name a date and try to get out asap. I would appreciate any info on red crowned c. location.

Hi John and Joe.
There are a couple of good areas for RC Cranes which are generally more shy and more scarce than the White-napes. Very roughly, you can go either left for one area or right for another once you get to the road's end T-junction--the trick then is to spot them in fields or flying. Somwhat distant but good views are not that hard to get, and a car is good for minimizing disturbance of the crane. There are some less obvious areas down dirt roads but hard to explain. How about I post my email if you want to open contact? That would be: dancusrex21@yahoo.com

It would be ideal (say for a two day trip) to cover one section of 'territory'; stay at a convenient (nice & economical) and cover the remaining sections the next.  This would be asking much but if we pool our resources, I'm sure we would have lots of fun...and the driver would be happy too. I will look at my schedule and be the first to select some dates.  Of course, a consensus should come forthright.

John,

Sorry lad, I didn't see your last post with the date. I was hoping for some later dates.  I have prior institute appointments that weekend.  On the weekend, sunday is best for me; quite busy friday and saturday.

John,

I know its a little short notice but how about Dec 31 or Jan 1st?  I think the weather should be bearable.
